Cognitive biases, blind spots, a sticky point and a "remedy"

center-of-the-universe-2011We are all born seeing ourselves as the center of the world. We don't know we are the center of our world... we just don't know there is any other vantage point to look from.

Most of us never learn it.

Like one of my students: every time I recommend anything, she answers: "I agree..."

She hasn't crossed that threshold, that divide between infant and even toddler... absolutely and completely ignorant to the fact that using the personal vantage point is ineffective, because it is delusional.

This is also true if and when you can see that other people see things differently from how you see them, but your view is accurate and theirs is inaccurate.

Same delusional, baby-view of the world. Continue reading "Cognitive biases, blind spots, a sticky point and a "remedy""

A good method to find yourself and know yourself... your core

core influenceI often catch myself stingy... if that is really what the beingness is...

Some 30 years ago I started a magazine. I didn't want to put my own picture in the magazine, so I put a woman's picture there who was a lot like me, instead.

It was self-protection, the sign of an intense aversion of being touched by someone I didn't want to be touched by. I can feel it now that I am talking about it.

The same feeling but weaker comes up when I think of all the people coming to my site who I would not want to talk to.

A few years ago I listened to a talk by Frank Kern (personal vibration: 300). The video of that talk... Continue reading "A good method to find yourself and know yourself... your core"

Why are you holding your breath? And why it is an ineffective way to manage your emotions...

732290I get insights in bite size chunks... here is a new insight I just got.

Your attention, that force to reckon with, that power you wield to bring life to stuff is connected to your breath.

They say: what you pay attention to starts moving. This is why, when you are at the chiropractor, they say: breathe into your hip, or your knees...

You see, they know breathing into something brings it mobility, awareness, and life... what they didn't know is that it is your attention that is brought to the sore or stuck part with the breath.

Updated: The secret of being able to change, and be reborn with a higher frequency

becoming independent from society's pullThe original of this article was published a year ago... I have added new insights today

The secret of my being able to change, and be reborn with a higher frequency, a higher vibration, is that I have been able to keep in check the societal imperative to care about other people more than I care about myself. And in addition to that, I have been able to admit to myself all the errors of my ways that I can see. So I don't even want to look good to myself. I am willing to accept myself, warts and all... for all I am and for all I am lacking.

This comes with giving up the emotional impact of others view of me, of others opinion of me, of others praise or hate of me, and my opinion of me... especially when I make a mistake, a false step, or when I make a fool of myself.

This attachment to opinions needs to be actively given up: no epigenetic shift, no transformation, no energy remedy will make these opinions neutral: we do live in a society, and others opinion of you and your products determines your money: and your money determines whether you eat, be sheltered, have leisure time, and a lot more. And your own opinion about yourself will determine whether you are going to play fully... or shrink.

So opinions are important, but they are not important emotionally.

Fear is emotional. Careful, thoughtful pro-action is not.

The sad guru... Paramahansa Yogananda

Possession-of-materialYogananda... I have measured his vibration at different times, in different contexts, always having a different number come up. So today I spent some time in his space... to see what's up.

Paramahansa Yogananda was a sad person. For two reasons, the two sides of the same coin: he had something that he wanted to share, and it wasn't shareable.

His words are simply his idea what made him the way he was, and the words did not communicate. Did not do for others what they, he thought, did for him.

So, slowly but surely, his words became a lie. Now, he himself wasn't the way he said people should be: he had sadness, grieving, devastation move into his heart.

And greed... wanting. Wanting it to be different. Wanting that burning go away from his throat and his upper chest.

And then it all fell apart... and what remained is pretense.

The only spiritual practice that raises your vibration, and can take you all the way

UNFRAGMENTEDIf you live a fragmented life... your life is full of wanting to, having to, needing to and should.

The common thread that can unify your life, the different areas, is who you are.

But if you don't know who you are, then you consider yourself the different roles you play in different circumstances, with different people... and there is no YOU to unify your life.

Life is horrible for a person like that. Disease settles in the space between what is real and what is pretended. The inner tension uses up all the energy that could be used for life, for the immune system to kill the nasties, invaders, viruses, cancer cells, toxins.

Time to reinvent yourself as someone you can love

try-time-to-reinvent-yourselfYou live in a world of your own design... Time to reinvent yourself as someone you can love

Your own design is like a filter you look through. You can't see the filter, just like you don't see the window unless you touch it...

A filter is like a pair of glasses...

A filter is also like a pair of glasses... They can be dark tinted, they can be yellow, green... and the world occurs differently with each pair of glasses. You can't see that it's the glasses that make the world look the way the world looks to you... unless you can take it off...

You can see only the ripples. The indication that there is something there...

It's the ripples that we don't like... we don't like the things we do, the things we think, the things we feel. We want to change the ripples. But the ripples are the surface of the iceberg... hidden, invisible...

But you can't change something that you don't know. You can't change something that you don't see.

We all want to reinvent ourselves, our world. Because what we have now is not working too well, not serving us too well. We can't have what we want, and we suffer.

Learning lessons the hard way... or the easy way... Part 2

thought experimentThe brilliance in the movie, "It's a wonderful life" is that the angel creates a thought experiment what the world would be like if our hero hadn't been born.

Thought experiments are uniquely human: animals don't do thought experiments.

The minimum intelligence required to create a thought experiment is 70... and I am not talking about IQ measured intelligence, I am talking about overall intelligence.

The average intelligence in the world is 50... But all my site's visitors qualify.

So let's look at that movie and see what is a thought experiment:

If X were different, in the movie take out the main character... and then look at different elements that you know how they are... the marriage, the loan bank, etc. The amount of happiness, the amount of difference.

Now let's look at different examples of thought experiments, all in the area of my work of becoming someone who loves life, and lives it successfully.

Living Dangerously: The habits that keep us feeling safe, small, bankrupt, and feeling dead UPDATED

detective-with-search-glassI had a one-on-one session with a student yesterday.

Sometimes I notice something "out"... something that doesn't fit the picture, and just like a good detective, I latch onto it, and watch it, and if I can, I use it to unravel the mystery someone's life is.

But sometimes it takes a while to really identify what it is that doesn't fit... it is just a hunch, it is just a feeling... like the faint scent of death for a search dog...

Who or What is calling the shot in your life? Commitment - new thoughts, new experiences

who-is-the-boss

This is a continuation of the c-word article... and the getting ready for a breakthrough article. Read them first or this article won't make sense completely

Displacement of your commitment:

As I have written before, the "universe" or the aspect of you that conspires and is in kahutz with the Universe, will put up obstacles in your path, so instead of doing stuff that's consistent with your commitment, you are now on a detour path: handling your obstacles.

Alex, a friend of mine, is dealing with his server and his websites being hacked... a moment after he made a commitment to growth. So he feels forced to deal with that, instead of following the path he set for himself.
