Cone vision can be wide and narrow, or Short and long... This distinction was driven up today by a student question: He watched the movie "The Founder" about Ray Kroc of MacDonald's fame.
I haven't watched the movie, but in it, according to the student, Ray Kroc was offered the chance to sell franchises to the MacDonald method of making and selling food. To the student's sensibilities: Ray Kroc was shortchanged: the deal was not a win-win. And having to always be in an obvious win-win is one of his preferences... and therein lies his no success... Let me talk about what is happening in a long article.
I got a really great question yesterday from a student.
He asks: Is it possible to be with what you can't accept, killing, rape, and such? And how do you do it without jeopardizing your personal values, your personal integrity, and at the same time still be able to be happy and not be mired in the dark energies of hatred?
This is a really great question. After all isn't the world REALLY divided to right and wrong? Good or bad? And wouldn't it put you on the side of bad and wrong if you accepted what you don't agree with, what you don't like, what you abhor?
The answer to the question, as almost always, is hidden in the question.
One of the capacities that you want to activate and develop is the capacity and the skill to take criticism, correction, judgment and opinion like a Man (meaning a human being).
One of my students violated copyright recently, and I sent her an email
...you have a profound disregard to my intellectual property. I did not sell you the right to do this. So please don't do it again, and don't pride yourself on how crafty you are. Stop gutting, combining, etc. the audios you bought the right to use, but not the right to gut them, recombine them. You don't own them, I do.
Then, inadvertently, I stayed connected to her... not a pleasant experience.
She went into anger and belligerence first. Then was ruminating about it, looking up excuses, justifications, etc.
