What is the opposite of entitled?

what do I deserve?Every generation is more entitled than the previous one. Why? Let me explain...

If appreciative is the opposite of entitled... does that mean that all those people who are not appreciative are entitled?

Entitled 1 is a worldview. It is a ground-of-being phenomenon, invisible, like the floor. An unexamined truth. To you. But for the other, it is quite obvious... 2

So how do you know that you are not appreciative? that you are entitled?

This is how:

  • Even when you thank someone, they frown...
  • You may even be diligent in thanking someone, you may even feel a stab of thankfulness, but those thanks are the waves on the waters, not the bottom of the sea... The bottom of your sea is entitlement.

What is real? What is made up? How can you tell?

I have read all the One minute books... I saw that the One Minute Manager touched on my Achilles' Heel...

Each of these One minute books teaches some attitude, or a thing to do, that makes you and the people you work with happier, more productive, etc.

Except...

Occam's razor says: everything should be as simple as it can be but not simpler.

Pop psychology is simplistic. You find yourself nodding vigorously as you read it. But when it comes to doing it... oops. You cannot do it.

The One Minute manager's job is to catch people doing the right things.

Most people cannot. Most people keep their eyes on what you do wrong, what they do wrong... what needs to be fixed. But most importantly they cannot see what is. Continue reading "What is real? What is made up? How can you tell?"

Do you feel responsible for what others say about you? The savior racket

Soul correction, responsibility, what is yours and what is not

First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt said it best: what others think about me is none of my business.

For most this is the hardest thing to learn. Continue reading "Do you feel responsible for what others say about you? The savior racket"

Returning to the fork in the road where you took a wrong turn

If you find yourself on the wrong road... trace your way back to where you went astray... and choose a different road.

Why? Because trying to go across to where you really wanted to go, without going back,  is fraught with death traps.

Humanity, some seven thousand years ago, took a wrong turn. In just a few words: they started to replace reality with word pictures in the mind. Concepts.

This took us to where we are now: not a pretty place. Any and every human is afflicted: no one is exempt.

An "avatar's" job is to take you backwards so you can find your way from there... They have to have earned the right... by going back personally, backtracking themselves.

Most teachers try to cut across... oh the Buddhist, oh the Zen, oh the blah blah... they must know what they are talking about... b.s.

Maybe they know, maybe they don't. But you haven't done the journey back, so you are a second-hander at best, so shut the f... up!

You are in the bull’s ear… You live in the bull’s ear

Parents want to help, but instead they push you deeper into the bull's ear.

The expression, came from a student's father, 1 you are in the bull's ear, is a great distinction. It is not American, and because it is alien sounding, almost nonsensical, it can wake you up. 2

Conscious awareness… what is it really? And what does your vocabulary have to do with it?

We throw about big words, and we pretend that we know them. Even "scientists" just pretend. If they didn't, they would be explaining, clarifying the words, but they don't.

In the Starting Point Measurements the vocabulary number is what indicates this. I originally intended to call this clarity, but then I decided that if it refers to words, then maybe it can be instructive.

It hasn't been.

So this article will be, mostly, about words.

Whenever we say conscious awareness, we are talking about words. No words, no conscious awareness.

Reframing: State change: Changing your emotional state

Frame: state change. Causing yourself or another to change their emotional state, aka attitude.

The myth of "IS"

One of the invisible tools the memes use, the memes that keep us trapped and unable to take control of our lives is to spew "is" on us.

OK, that was a long sentence. let me see if I can reword it. The memes freeze us into a life where we have no power. It is in the wording. The freezing power comes from the wording.

We have spoken about the having to, needing to, wanting to, and should... these are a group of tools the memes use to rob us of our own power, and render us puppets.

The tool that renders us powerless to change is the improper use of "is".

  • Whenever you feel you need to change, this meme tool is at work.
  • Whenever you point a blaming finger at yourself, at the world, or at others, this meme tool is at work.
  • It is under learned helplessness. It is under resignation, cynicism, and unless you learn to recognize it, you'll fight it... like Don Quixote was fighting the windmills. No chance to win.

How do you catch what you can’t see? How do you change into someone who can?

Last night I spent a few hours (3, to be exact.) listening to Jim Rohn, famed self-development coach. Funny, entertaining, brilliant.

He said all the right words. He made sense to a lot of people.

But I bet if we scratch the numbers, he made just as little results as everyone who is trying to cause individual human evolution.

I'll tell you in a little bit why... but first let me tell you what he says: Continue reading "How do you catch what you can’t see? How do you change into someone who can?"

God doesn’t play favorites. Will you be the one who survives?

It seems that we, humans, never look at anything long enough, or awake enough, to actually see the forest for the trees.

What do I mean?

I mean that certain things can only be seen if looked at long enough.

The cat can't recognize anything stationary, unless it stares at it long enough. And honestly, neither can you. Or me.

But you, with your big brain, and arrogance, you think you saw all you needed to see, and it is how come you use only a small fragment of the information available to you. You don't even look! You don't listen! You don't pay attention to your senses.

You live in your head...

It's habitual. Continue reading "God doesn’t play favorites. Will you be the one who survives?"

It’s hard to be silently brilliant. Lots of thoughts occur when you open your mouth

It's hard to be silently brilliant. Lots of thoughts occur when you open your mouth.

This has been one of the principles I live by.

Now, that finally the harmful effects of the milk protein wore off... and I am returning to being normal.

So my Sunday Rants call was more productive than maybe ever. Not less ranty... mind you, but more insights.

It is very easy to think in a tiny box, and most people live that way. It is even possible for most to stay in that tiny box when they listen to someone, or read something. They never leave, never enlarge the box, never go anywhere.

Because what gives you your world, what you see, your actions, your words, your feelings... that is what is in the box.

I realized that some 29 years ago. It was New Year's Eve, and I spent it on the phone with a Landmark staff member from Detroit.

We took turns to speak the New Year into existence.
