Appreciation is one step further: it is actually giving value to what is, but not just what you like, what you wanted, what seems to have value, but all of it. It is happiness squared.
Picking and choosing what you appreciate says that the rest: well, the rest you don't appreciate. The rest you don't want. The rest could, or even should go away.
And your vibration is given by your worst... not by your best.
So your vibration is on the level of "it should go away".
Practice accepting... especially the stuff that is hard to accept.
