Case Study: Abraham Channeled by Esther Hicks

Feel better vs. Raise Your Vibration

Please remember that this whole series of case studies is interested in one thing: does the modality raise your vibration permanently.

Or does it only teach you to feel better temporarily… That is the only criteria that I examine here.

Why? Because there are plenty of feel better, flash-in-the-pan modalities out there. Modalities that enslave you.

What do I mean?

Let me give you an example: A friend of mine ran his idea by me today: he wants to offer an on-demand coaching service, where people pay a monthly retainer fee and then a per-minute fee when they call for a coaching session.

What’s predictable is that the same people will call about the same issues, over and over. Just like it’s the same people who go to ACOA 12 step meeting… nothing ever changes.

And unless he does something beyond solving the issue at hand, he will have to deal with the same thing over and over again. They will feel better for a little while, but the same thing will come back again and again.

An acquaintance of mine

An acquaintance of mine whose life I have been tracking for about five years, is in crisis. Again. I have seen this exact same crisis about 8 times in these five years. His solution to everything is to run, and swear that this was the last time…

What’s predictable is that he will never get off the merry-go-round till he dies. Every time we talk he feels better. He is sure it will stay, but it always goes away… and the merry-go-round is back.

I used to have this about money myself… not any more.

Another acquaintance of mine

…wants to have a nurturing, supportive, loving relationship where she can continue doing her art, and be safe.

In the 10 years I’ve been watching her, she has had a lot of suitors: she is beautiful, and a successful artist.

The underlying craving for love, and the underlying fear of loss destroys every relationship before she starts them. Unless the underlying issues get released, she is never going to get off this merry-go-round: guaranteed.

Let’s look what are the workings of your mind…

…so you can change temporarily, elevate your mood, feel better, but not permanently, and not raise your vibration?

Imagine a duck pond. The ducks seem to float, effortlessly. But if you look under the surface, you see feverish activity of the feet…

Now, your conscious mind and your other than conscious mind have the same relationship: your other than conscious mind is running the show.

No problem, you say, let’s change the other than conscious mind… Great idea. there is a problem though.

Your conscious mind has no access to your other than conscious mind. None. Zero. Nada. Zip.

Bummer, now what? Exactly my point.

OK, OK, but where does Abraham, channeled by Esther Hicks, fit into this conversation?

Abraham/Hicks is a good example of the feel good modalities.

To repeat myself, feel better modalities are perfect for people who have addictive tendencies, and want to pick a vice that is not self-destructive, like alcohol and drugs, or sex, as in sex addiction.

These modalities attract mostly people who are low on the vibrational scale, and feel comfortable being there, but still want to feel better… at least some of the time.

So if they get good at it, with a few minutes of work they can coach themselves out of misery, all the way to about pride, which is 175 on the map of vibration. Few is able to go all the way to courage (200).

They can only hang out on that 175 level with constant booster: talking about it, teaching it to others, etc.

Effects: not permanent. Verdict: Modality doesn’t permanently raise your vibration. It can make you feel better. But no rise in your vibration permanently. It is talking about flying… not flying.

Esther Hicks teaches you to reach for a better feeling state

…by saying something different from what’s bothering you. Inch by inch.

It isn’t fundamentally ‘wrong’… except that people’s, your ability to see anything other than wrong, less wrong… irrelevant stuff… is very weak, or non-existent. You live in the Valley of the Shadow of Death, The Grand Canyon, and you can only see things in terms of right or wrong.

It’s a lot of work and its effects are temporary.

So the higher your vibration, the higher your consciousness, the better you’ll do with this exercise of reaching for a better feeling thought.

Why? Because ultimately, your level of vibration is the floor of the consciousness you live at.

It is your vibration gives you how far you see, in how much detail, and how wide, without having to work at it in the moment of looking.

In a larger cone of vision, which Landmark Education calls ‘temporality’ you can see that most things that upset you, send you ranting and raving, discourage you, are irrelevant on the long haul. They are momentary blips. Non-issues. Really.

If you don’t believe me, you just told me the size of your cone… Or your vibration.
