Our prejudices often rob us from seeing what is in front of us.
Prejudice is a simple two-part word: pre-judge. Meaning: judge from some simple criteria, like the color of someone's skin, the strength of their grammar, their clothing, or whether they curse or not.
And then we stop looking, because the judgment is already there: this or that.
Pre-judging is a cognitive bias, it is the mind's attempt to save you time. It is accurate for our purposes of survival, about 60% of the time. 40% of the time it is inaccurate, and leads to stupid, self-defeating decisions.
I had an interesting insight this morning. I woke up with the wicked vertigo back... I moved my neck the wrong way in exercise class... And I didn't experience the despair, and the urgent desire to fix it. Or will it away. I observed it, and the secondary symptoms that go with it.
I live a goal-less life.
I don't get frustrated, I don't get excited, I don't push, I don't force, I don't rush. I don't do things for a reason either.
The Islamic State is no mere collection of psychopaths. It is a religious group with carefully considered beliefs, among them that it is a key agent of the coming apocalypse. Here's what that means for its strategy—and for how to stop it.
What is the Islamic State?
Where did it come from, and what are its intentions? The simplicity of these questions can be deceiving, and few Western leaders seem to know the answers. In December, The New York Times published confidential comments by Major General Michael K. Nagata, the Special Operations commander for the United States in the Middle East, admitting that he had hardly begun figuring out the Islamic State's appeal. "We have not defeated the idea," he said. "We do not even understand the idea." In the past year, President Obama has referred to the Islamic State, variously, as "not Islamic" and as al-Qaeda's "jayvee team," statements that reflected confusion about the group, and may have contributed to significant strategic errors.
Warning: I use all my articles as a vehicle for me to muddle through issues, to gain clarity, to distill the truth, to separate illusion from reality.
This article goes through a meandering path... and unless you follow the path closely, you won't get to the result and get the same clarity, so you will be wasting your time.
If you don't have the time to read this article attentively, don't read it, it will make no sense in the end.
The juice is in the detail, the juice is in the journey, the scenery one can see... You've been warned.
Humanity lives in quiet desperation. Everyone. Even the rich and famous. They are aimless, purposeless, dissatisfied, judgmental, jealous and envious, craving love, craving sex, craving belonging, craving a sense of meaning. At times more than at others.
Want to get out of your mind where you can't grow, can't breathe, can't raise your vibration?
I can hear your enthusiastic yes.
Last night I got up around 2 am... I needed to get some water. En route I checked my email.
There were ten requests to measure their vibration. Three request to tell them what to do to raise their vibration. I went back to bed sad.
For a long time having people ask for their vibration, made me glad. Finding out what is your vibration, what is the reality about the things you know, the things you hold true, your behavior, where you stand on the tree of life, is very valuable. It is like getting a map, so at least you know where you are starting from.
